Wave Relay™ is a versatile wireless communication system which is currently deployed in a number of different markets. Wave Relay™'s success at meeting the needs of a diverse group of end-user applications is a true testament to its flexible design. Many end-users of Wave Relay™ install it as a welcomed replacement for a competing system which failed to meet their expectations. The Persistent Systems team has continuously leveraged feedback from customers in industrial, municipal, and defense markets to enhance the Wave Relay™ product. The result is a system that exceeds end-user expectations and operates in almost any deployment environment.

Industrial Customers prefer us because:

Our industrial customers were previously utilizing low data rate industrial radios that barely achieved 115 Kbps. These radios were typically point-to-multi-point, requiring line-of-site single hop connectivity to their access point. This deployment restriction limited where they could be located. Many of them only provided serial interfaces, rendering them obsolete as industrial plants moved towards Ethernet. After deploying Wave Relay™, industrial customers were able to achieve 20 Mbps across 5 wireless hops, allowing connectivity between two plants more then 20 miles apart. Wave Relay™ delivered more bandwidth between the plants than their existing leased lines from the phone company. Instead of using Wave Relay™ solely for SCADA applications, end-users began connecting video surveillance cameras, voice over IP phone systems, and even used the wireless network as a backup for their leased lines. The ability to use Wave Relay™ for many different applications led to both a rapid return on investment and the ability to fund the deployment by many departments within the organization (IT, maintenance, and process control).

Municipal Customers prefer us because:

Most municipalities have deployed meshed internet access systems that have limited functionality and are extremely difficult to maintain and manage. Many of these municipal deployments require an additional wireless backhaul system from a non-mesh vendor, resulting in two systems that need to be deployed, integrated, and maintained. Wave Relay™ provides a single solution which integrates both the backhaul and the client access points into a unified system, simplifying management and reducing costs. In addition, all competing municipal mesh networks have failed to truly deliver the mesh to the end-user. Wave Relay™ is the only mesh system which utilizes an end-user CPE that provides the same advanced mesh functionality as the rest of the system. Allowing CPEs to hop and route through each other strengthens the network as more users are added and allows the mesh to extend deeper into buildings and residences.

DoD/Defense Customers prefer us because:

Defense customers may have the single greatest need for a Mobile Ad hoc Network (MANET). DoD users require the network to operate in areas of the world where no existing infrastructure exists. They need to be able to maintain "comms" while on the move and they require true peer-to-peer routing and connectivity. No existing municipal or industrial mesh vendor is currently selling to the DoD or to Defense Contractors, since their current technology is unable to meet the challenges presented by these customers. Wave Relay™ is deployed by DoD contractors on both Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV's) and Naval Unmanned Sea Surface Vehicles (USSV's). Our defense customers put Wave Relay™ through some of the most challenging deployment scenarios, which benefit our industrial and municipal customers through the deployment of the most sophisticated MANET technology for their civilian applications.
