The Wave Relay™ Tracking Antenna System enables two-way communication between the ground and another fast-moving asset. Together with the Quad Radio Router, which is used to control steering, the Tracking Antenna System provides an encrypted digital data link to military UAVs, police and fire helicopters, and Coast Guard planes. From the ground station, the System can also track boats and other moving vehicles.

The System has demonstrated the ability to transmit streaming digital video, VoIP, and situational awareness data to 65 miles. And, since the Tracking Antenna is a component of a Wave Relay System, it is part of the mesh, acting like an extension cord to the existing network and allowing for even greater
communication distances.

The Tracking Antenna System is a relatively compact assembly of specially designed components. The System consists of a parabolic grid antenna, a pan/tilt unit, and a tripod. The parabolic grid antenna provides 26.5 dB gain for long-range, highly directional applications. The grid is open-frame die cast aluminum, making it durable, lightweight, and steady in the wind. The standard antenna operates on a wide band from 2.3 to 2.5 GHz, and other configurations are available as an option. The pan/tilt unit is designed to allow continuous 360° horizontal rotation. Since the unit has an RF pass-through and a slip ring, only short RF cables are required and those cables never tangle. This design feature enables the System to easily track an orbiting plane without ever dropping communication. The antenna and the pan/tilt are secured on an extremely sturdy and rugged tripod. The tripod elevates to almost six feet for operation and collapses to less than three feet for easy transport.

The System is intelligently designed with deployment in mind. Components are secured in a single Pelican case that can be brought directly into the field, and assembly and configuration require less than five minutes. An easy to use web management interface facilitates setup. All System components are interchangeable, enabling the System to be easily customized with antennas specific to the task.
