The Persistent and GD Mission Systems teams worked collaboratively to design this purpose built solution for infantry fighting vehicles. From installation, compliance with vehicular standards, to sustainment and depot level maintenance – the GVR5 is thoughtfully designed to succeed in combat vehicles.
The GVR5 sits on a ballistic shock mount, designed by General Dynamics, and built to withstand the harshest combat environments. Engineered to meet the most stringent MIL standards, the rugged built body meets the ballistic and gunfire shock requirements typically found in heavy ground vehicles.
The GVR5 has mounting locations on both the top and bottom of the device. This provides flexibility to mount it to a standard shock mounted tray or to mount to below a panel or to the roof of the vehicle. Space in vehicles is hard to come by, flexible mounting makes it easier to integrate.
General Dynamics Mission Systems designed the GVR5 power supply to handle the spikes, surges, operating voltages and ripple that is typical of large military ground vehicles. It is purpose built to handle the intense Initial Engagement Surge (IES) and the Cranking surge from these tactical vehicles. The GVR5 has been independently tested to meet MIL-STD-1275.
A RF selection knob on the front panel of the GVR5 is used to select between either individual band, both bands, and complete RF Silence. When configured for RF Silence, all of the GVR5’s capabilities (networking, video encoding, Cloud Relay) still function.
Blackout covers conceal each individual LED. Slide the covers into place to control your light signature inside the vehicle, and easily open to reveal the operating status of the device. It’s the little details that make a big difference.
Our Dual-Band Vehicle Antennas enable both RF frequencies to operate simultaneously, while only requiring 3 antennas on the vehicle. Both Vertically and Horizontally Polarized dual-band antennas are available. We recommend installing (2) Vertically Polarized and (1) Horizontally Polarized antenna to significantly increase your performance.
The RF Modules are external and easily replaceable, allowing for quick depot level maintenance if damaged. The modules can also be easily upgraded when new versions are available.
